Get out the umbrella - again.

After a wet weekend, the Colorado Springs area and the Pikes Peak region is forecast to see another round of storms Monday.

According to Gazette news partner KKTV, the day is expected to kick off with cloudy skies and some drizzle.

"By the afternoon hours, chances for showers and storms will increase," KKTV said in a report. "The best bet will be across the higher terrain with storms drifting into the (Interstate 25) corridor."

Rain is forecast to fall through the evening.

According to the National Weather Service in Pueblo, Colorado Springs could see a high near 63 degrees on Monday with showers and thunderstorms after 11 a.m. Up to a half-inch of rain could fall, the weather service predicts.

The unusually low high temperature is just four degrees above the record for lowest maximum temperature for Aug. 7. That happened in 1921. The average high for Aug. 7 since 1981 has been 83 degrees.

The region could see more storms Tuesday but "less widespread," KKTV reports, adding that most of the rainfall will likely stay in the mountains and along I-25.

"We start to see improvements by the middle portion of the work week with storm chances becoming more isolated in nature," KKTV said in a report. "Still, there is a chance of afternoon storms almost every day with coverage dependent on the previous days' storms."
