Colorado Springs tied its record-high temperature Thursday, but the heat won't last - expect slightly cooler weather through the weekend.

The all-time high for Feb. 16 in Colorado Springs was set in 1970 with 68 degrees, and Thursday's heat hit the 68-degree mark, according to the National Weather Service in Pueblo.

The weather service predicted highs of 62 degrees Friday and 59 degrees Saturday and Sunday.

But the expected cooldown still leaves Colorado Springs with above-average temperatures.

The normal high temperature for Feb. 17, 18 and 19 in Colorado Springs is 45 degrees, according to weather service data.

"The weekend will be a bit cooler and breezier, but still mild," Gazette news partner KKTV reported.

The weather service forecast includes mostly sunny skies Friday and partly sunny skies Saturday, but on Sunday, a 20 percent chance of rain after 11 a.m. will be followed by a 10 percent chance at night.

KKTV reported that the storm doesn't look major, but that "a shower or two late Sunday into Monday is possible."

Slight winds are expected each day and night through the weekend, according to the weather service, but Saturday may be the breeziest, with 10-15 mph winds in the morning.
