He was buried alive for a week, encased in ice for three days and spent 44 days subsisting on nothing but water inside a box in London.

The popular magician and illusionist David Blaine will bring his first North American tour to Pikes Peak Center on June 10. Tickets go on sale at noon Friday. Ticket prices to be announced; visit pikespeakcenter.com or axs.com.

Blaine first gained fame in 1997 when he traveled the country and mystified passers-by with his sleight-of-hand tricks. His ambitions grew larger and resulted in nine primetime TV specials featuring death-defying feats, including having more than one million volts discharged at him continuously for 72 hours from seven Tesla coils. In 2008, he broke a world record for holding his breath for 17 and a half minutes on an episode of "The Oprah Winfrey Show."
