A 40-year-old man missing five days in the Great Sand Dunes National Park and Preserve in southern Colorado has been found.
Bryan Skilinski, from New York, was found safe at the end of the day Thursday. He was approximately one and a half miles south of the park visitor center, according to Acting Superintendent Scott Stonum.
Skilinski was found "in relatively good health considering he had spent five nights out in the elements with little winter gear," Stonum said.
Skilinski had become disoriented during his first day hiking in deep snow when he set out Saturday morning, Stonum said. Authorities started searching for Skilinski Thursday after they noticed his vehicle was left unattended for several days in the park's horse trailer parking lot along Medano Road.
"We could not have asked for a better outcome," Stonum said.
