KOAA-TV viewers will notice a new face during news broadcasts starting on Monday. That’s when Jeff Matthews makes his debut with the local NBC affiliate. A veteran meteorologist, Matthews has previously worked at stations in Wyoming, Maine, Philadelphia, and Green Bay.

“We are excited to have Jeff join our award-winning meteorologists,” said KOAA5 news director  Ryan Hazelwood. “Jeff is a dual sealed meteorologist who has cut his teeth in big weather cities. We expect him to be a great compliment to our ‘Always Watching Out For You’ weather team.”

Matthews is originally from New Jersey and earned his degree in Atmospheric and Oceanic Sciences from Rutgers University. He fills the spot left open when Sam Schreier was promoted to chief meteorologist in October. You can follow Mr. Matthews on Twitter at @JMatthewsKOAA and on Facebook at @MeteorologistJeffMatthews.
